It has been found that the cable was laid without the approval of CG Net. The approval of Nepal Electricity Authority is mandatory when laying wires through electricity poles. However, it has been found that the CG net wire of Chaudhary Group is being laid without approval.
Though an application has been submitted to the Nepal Electricity Authority for laying the wires, approval has not been received yet. The authority has been taking action if it is found that other companies have laid wires without permission. However, no action has been taken even while CG Net is laying wires openly.
NEA spokesperson Madan Timilsina informed that CG Net has applied for laying the wire. He said that CG has not received the approval yet.
The authority that takes action for laying wires without approval is allowing CG Net, which is in the process of approval, to extend the wires.
According to an employee of CG Net, the employees of the electricity company have been obstructing the laying of wires at various places without permission. The employees said, “We are in the process of getting approval. Now, the employees of the electricity company are saying that they will not be able to pull the wires without permission.”
Spokeswoman Timilsina said she did not know if the work had stopped. “It’s in the approval process. They’re probably working. I don’t know if the work has stopped,” he said.
CG Net could not be reached for comment.
NEA has complained to other cable television and internet service providers that they are not allowed to pull wires without permission.
CG Net is expanding its services in Kathmandu Valley saying that it will provide cheap internet.
